Ancelotti explains why he didn’t play Hazard vs Bilbao

“I have nothing to say. There are no punished players at the club. Ceballos, Vallejo didn’t play too [as well as Bale and Hazard]. They [Hazard and Bale] are at the same level as the others who didn’t play. We have to be fair,” Carlo Ancelotti said after the Bilbao loss.

Some fans expected Ancelotti to start both Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard who seemed physically better prepared than both Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. However, the Italian boss took a risk that, unfortunately, didn’t quite pay off.

Ancelotti was also hoping to make some subs in the extra time but the team conceded late in the second half and didn’t find an equaliser.
