Angry Luke Shaw points out Man Utd flop after Wolves defeat

It was quite unfortunate start for the year for Manchester United after being beaten 1-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Monday.

In a scathing post-match interview, furious Luke Shaw accused his teammates of not being “together”, insisting that their performance was “obviously not good enough”.

Shaw told Sky Sports : “We really struggled, we couldn’t get hold of the ball and when we didn’t have the ball we weren’t aggressive enough.

“We didn’t put them under any pressure. We have to put more pressure on them, we have to have intensity. I didn’t think we were all there together.

“You look at the players we have, we have unbelievable quality, but sometimes quality is not enough. We need to bring the intensity and more motivation.

“It looked like an easy game for them. It was a disappointing performance and result. We didn’t have many options on the ball and we weren’t on the front foot.”

However, Shaw had to single out one player out of the Man Utd squad to haule praises at and that was Phil Jones who made his first appearance for the club after 708 days out through injury.

Shaw launched a staunch defence of the centre-back, who produced an impressive display after almost two years of agony and abuse.

“One thing I will say is Phil Jones should be proud of himself,” the England international noted.

“He has been criticised for years, and has gone through a lot, but he is so professional and he has trained hard and he was phenomenal.

“He was exceptional, I am very happy for him and he deserves it.”

Rangnick added: “There was no doubt at all regarding his attitude because I saw him training.

“If you consider hasn’t played in two years it was a very good performance.”
