OFFICIAL: Ashley Cole leaves Chelsea academy to join Frank Lampard’s coaching team at Everton

Ashley Cole has been confirmed as a part of Frank Lampard’s coaching team at Everton.

The former Chelsea left-back was working for the Chelsea academy since 2019, including a role with the U15 side.

Since last July, however, he was effectively a part-time coach at the club as he was appointed England U21 assistant coach.

Now, he reunites with Lampard who coached him for a short spell at Derby County in 2019. Of course, they spent eight years as Chelsea teammates and even longer as part of the England squad.

Cole joins the Everton backroom staff that has already been filled with coaches with strong Chelsea connections.

Former long-term Chelsea coach Joe Edwards is Lampard’s assistant manager now, while Paul Clement who was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Stamford Bridge has also joined the Toffees.
