Campbell tells Man United player to sign – He’s brilliant, far better than Fred, McTominay

Former Premier League striker, Kevin Campbell has urged Manchester United to get a deal for Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong this summer.

Campbell insisted that De Jong is a brilliant player who is far better than Man United midfielders, Scott McTominay and Fred.

De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax for an initial sum of €75 million in 2019.

The 25-year-old Dutch star has been heavily linked with a move to Man United since the club appointed Erik Ten Hag as their permanent manager.

“Frenkie de Jong is a player I covered a lot when I was working in Spain. He’s just brilliant,” Campbell, a former Arsenal star, told Football Insider.

“He’s way better than McTominay and Fred. He’s way above them. The key is getting him. They have got to get him.”

“If they get him in there, all of a sudden that midfield looks very different. He can do it all. I have seen him play in three or four different positions in one game, including as a centre-half. He did it all effortlessly. He’s a really, really good footballer.”

Man United: I stand with you on one condition – Antony sends message to Ten Hag

Ajax winger, Antony, has told incoming Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag that he will always ‘stand with him’ if he needs him.

Ten Hag has started work with Man United this week following Ajax’s final game of the season last Sunday.

The Dutchman has begun preparations for their pre-season campaign and even held talks with Man United’s hierarchy over potential transfer targets as the Red Devils look to recover from their worst-ever Premier League season.

Some Ajax players have been linked with a move to Man United, including Antony, Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez, since Ten Hag’s appointment to take over from Ralf Rangnick at the Premier League giants.

And Antony, who was one of Ten Hag’s best players at Ajax this season, has made it clear he would be willing to follow his former coach to Old Trafford.

In a video message to Ten Hag after his Ajax departure, Antony said: “I want to wish you all the best at your new club.

“I also want to thank you for everything you taught me. I am thankful for all the opportunities and learning every day.

“Know that I will always stand with you if you need me.”
