Chelsea vs Real Madrid: Owen Hargreaves picks team to reach Champions League semi-final

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, has picked the team that will advance to the Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The Champions League quarter-finals draw was conducted on Friday.

Chelsea will face Real Madrid, Man City will tackle Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich will clash with Villarreal and Liverpool will battle Benfica.

But Hargreaves expects Chelsea to go through to the Champions League last-4 ahead of Real Madrid.

“Chelsea will be super confident because they outplayed Real Madrid last year,” Hargreaves told BT Sport.

“Real Madrid are underdogs but they have real quality, it’s an incredible group of players.

“Chelsea will be wary because of Madrid’s experience. It’s a tough one, but I think Chelsea will go through.”

Messi vs Ronaldo: Thiago Silva names player that’s difficult to defend against

Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva, has named the player that is difficult to defend against between Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Silva has played against many of the best forwards in the game during his career in Brazil national team, AC Milan, PSG, and now Chelsea.

The Brazilian defender compared Messi and Ronaldo, adding that the Argentine captain is difficult to defend against in a one-on-one situation.

“The small difference is that Messi, with the ball in a one-on-one or a two-on-one, is difficult to stop,” Silva told ESPN.

“With Ronaldo, I’m not saying that it’s easy, but one player can mark and the other can monitor – doing that gives you more security at the back.

“However, Messi and Ronaldo are both players capable of incredible things – like Neymar.

“I believe, though, that it’s harder to defend against Messi than it is against Ronaldo.”
