Coming through the academy, Andreas Christensen has become an important player to the Chelsea side under Thomas Tuchel. But recall that the 26-year-old centre-back was given his big break in the team during the tenure of Antonio Conte.
Christensen told Chelseafc.com what the manager taught him and how he helped him: “It was a lot of back and forward when I arrived back here and he [Antonio Conte] was here. Conte taught me how to trust myself, relax my personality and be a unit instead of an individual defender.
“I was young at the time, turning 21, coming straight in the middle of the back three was a big task but I learned from every game, every session.
“My biggest lesson is listening. I had times where I didn’t play. The way back was listening to the coach. What does he want you to do different? Which is better than if you’re not listening, [as then] you don’t know what you can improve.”
Christensen has performed very well over the last year. However, his contract expires at the end of this season and his future is still up in the air as reported, an agreement doesn’t look close.
