Former Manchester United player, Angel Gomes believes that Rangnick should not sideline Jesse Lingard as he heaped praise on his former teammate.
He insist that lack of play time might have adverse effect on the English forward as with every other player.
Lingard was frozen out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and doesn’t appear to be a part of the interim manager’s plans either.
The playmaker’s contract runs out at the end of the season as he is expected to leave Old Trafford as a free agent, alongside Paul Pogba.
But Gomes, who climbed through the ranks alongside Lingard, before moving to Lille in 2020, suggests Rangnick could be missing a trick as the 21-year-old gave a glowing review of the England international.
Gomes was asked who the most underrated player he has ever played with is during an interview for Rising Ballers on YouTube.
He said “He went through a phase of being underrated and I had to argue with a lot of people about this. Jesse is a joke.
“He went through a bad spell and it was like the end of the world, you know how it is in football. You just saw when he went to West Ham what he can do.
“He is a baller. I’ve never seen someone that can run at the same pace for the whole game – on and off the ball – and still do something.
“There would be times in training where I’d be thinking this guy has four lungs! Pre-season, he’s on the runs and then passing, boom. Jesse’s the most underrated player I’ve played with.”
