Four shortlisted bidders given fresh deadline ahead of Chelsea sale

The shortlisted bidders to buy Chelsea have been told they can increase their offers for the Premier League club, according to SportsMail.

Raine Group, the merchant bank advising the Blues with the sale, has confirmed they are permitted to make new and improved bids.

They had thought their first offers for Chelsea would be treated as final, as the club and the British Government prioritised a quick sale owing to the financial difficulties the Blues find themselves following the restrictions imposed upon them in the wake of current owner Roman Abramovich’s sanctioning.

It is believed that at least two of the final four parties who have been chosen as preferred bidders are ready to increase their offers.

This could now turn the process into an auction, with Chelsea now set to be sold for nearer the £3 billion that Abramovich originally wanted.

Raine have set a deadline of April 11 for the second bids.

The New York-based bank has also informed groups that they can meet Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and director Marina Granovskaia and tour the club’s facilities in the coming days as part of their due diligence process.

Ex-Chelsea player urges Liverpool to buy Conor Gallagher

“Conor Gallagher is an outstanding attacking midfielder who always looks like he’s going to get a goal or make an assist,” former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“I like him because I don’t think there’s too many of his type around. Liverpool, for me, if they had a player like that as well adding him behind their front three, with his ability to get goals. Chelsea would never sell him to Liverpool, but they’d do really well with him.

“Conor Gallagher will get goals. Whether or not he will get his chance at Chelsea, I don’t know. No-one at Chelsea can do what he does.

“But it depends if Thomas Tuchel wants to play that kind of player in his system. I hope he does give him a chance.”

The on-loan Chelsea midfielder has scored eight goals in 25 league games for Crystal Palace this season.

It is very unlikely Chelsea would sell him. Gallagher is expected to fight for the place in the first team next season.
