Man United’s top target to replace Solskjaer revealed

Following the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United start their search for a new manager, while assistant Michael Carrick takes over as interim coach.

The Red Devils are reportedly considering several choices for the job. However, Man United legend Gary Neville believes the club have already chosen their number one candidate for the job.

While speaking to Sky Sports, Neville claimed Manchester United are targeting Mauricio Pochettino as their top candidate to replace Solskjaer.

“He’d look at that group of players, he’d look at the club and he’d realise he’d probably be able to achieve more than he wants at Man Utd in terms of a project.

“At PSG you are on season by season, ‘you’ve got to win the Champions League or you’re out’- type of model. I don’t think that suits Pochettino. I think he would absolutely come to Man Utd on a five-year deal, with backing behind him.”

Meanwhile, according to reports from Mirror; Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane and Erik Ten Hag are reportedly on the Red Devils’ shortlist to replace Solskjaer permanently. However, the English outlet claims Man United consider Pochettino as their first choice to take over the club next summer.

At the moment, Pochettino contract with PSG is ongoing, but the Argentine is reportedly interested in returning to the Premier League. If Man United decide to appoint the Argentine immediately, they will have to negotiate with PSG over a compensation package.
