Manchester United have actively discussed internally about the prospect of a move for Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig this summer.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks following an outstanding campaign in the Bundesliga.
He has scored 28 goals and claimed 18 assists in all competitions, meaning it is easy to understand why United would be keen.
Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg has stated United have held discussions about the prospect of signing the versatile attacker.
Nkunku was signed by United caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick for RBL when he was technical director.
No Ronaldo or Bruno: Ballon d’Or 2022 frontrunners revealed
French outlet L’Equipe has revealed the Ballon d’Or frontrunners for 2022 and it does not include Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo – two players who dominated the award for the past decade.
Along with Ronaldo, even Bruno Fernandes is nowhere mentioned even though he was one of the nominees last year. Based on the 2021/22 season though, it’s unlikely for a Manchester United player to be on the list.
Instead, this time, Karim Benzema is named as one of the strongest contenders to win the prestigious honour.
Along with the Real Madrid forward, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mane, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne.
Lewandowski continues to be a favourite among fans to win the honour while it’s interesting to see names like Mane and De Bruyne in the running.
