Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney who is also a former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo has said that Lionel Messi is the only player in the world that is not jealous of the Portuguese star.
Rooney’s comments come after Ronaldo called him “jealous” for criticizing his second return to Manchester United.
During his appearance on Monday Night Football this week, Rooney took aim at Ronaldo’s return to United and suggested that the 37-year-old does not offer enough when he’s on the pitch.
Ronaldo replied “two jealous” in his response to his former United team-mate’s Instagram post.
But when asked about Ronaldo’s comment on Thursday, Rooney replied: “I actually saw that this morning and I’d probably say that there’s probably not a football player on the planet who isn’t jealous of Cristiano.
“The career he’s had, the trophies he’s won, the money he’s earned, his six-pack, his body.
“I think every player, bar probably Lionel Messi, is jealous of Cristiano.”
Ten Hag to bring Van Persie back to Man Utd
Ajax manager, Erik Ten Hag is set to be named the next Manchester United manager.
He will take charge at Old Trafford this summer once Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell comes to an end.
United will pay a compensation package of around £1.6m, but that is likely to go beyond £2m once his staff are also factored in.
Ten Hag has begun seeking out possible assistants and wants his compatriots who have experience on the red half of Manchester.
Robin van Persie and Jaap Stam are being considered.
Van Persie works at Feyenoord, assisting the team’s U16 side. Stam is the only man currently out of a job with his last role coming in the US with FC Cincinnati.
