Tuchel nominated for Manager of the Month for March – Full nomination list

Thomas Tuchel has been nominated for Manager of the Month by the Premier League for the March.

The Blues won three out of three games in the month while only conceding one goal in the entirety of the month.

Chelsea trounced Burnley 4-0 to kick things off, following which they beat Norwich 3-1 and finally a late goal against in-form Newcastle secured the three wins out of three for Tuchel.

Tuchel’s greatest achievements though have not just been on the touchline but also in the press conferences and the dressing room. In the turbulent times at Chelsea, the manager has been lauded for his handling of the media as well as the squad during Chelsea’s crisis.

Here’s the full nominations

The five nominees for March’s Premier League manager of the month award include Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta among those up for the award.

The list of nominees is completed by Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel, Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Tottenham Hotspur’s Antonio Conte.

All of the managers up for the prize won an impressive three Premier League games each during March.

Arteta helped Arsenal tighten their grip on a place in the top four in March, earning impressive wins over Leicester and Aston Villa to put the Gunners three point clear of their closest rivals in the race for Champions League qualification.

The only team to beat Arsenal in March was Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds closed the gap to league leaders Manchester City to just one point this month, winning all three of the Premier League games without conceding a single goal.

Former Dortmund and PSG manager Tuchel also oversaw three wins out of three in March, steadying the ship on the pitch at Chelsea while the club go through turmoil at boardroom level.

Rodgers has overseen a mini-resurgence at Leicester City in March, while Conte’s Tottenham impressed in a big win over West Ham to earn his place among the nominees.

Fabrizio Romano names 9-goal player Chelsea led race for before sanctions

The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea had been in pole position to sign Leeds United forward Raphinha before Roman Abramovich was slapped with sanctions by the UK government.

Now the Brazilian, who has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 27 Premier League games so far this season, is closer to moving to Barcelona.

“Raphinha would be open to join Barcelona in the summer, positive talks between Deco [agent] and the club since March 9 – no discussions between clubs yet, as Barça will wait for Leeds situation to be clarified,” Romano tweeted.

“Chelsea were leading the race for Raphinha before the sanctions.”
