Tuchel’s blunt admission when asked about Chelsea’s position in top four race got fans worried

Chelsea have collected just four points in their last four Premier League games and that has seen their lead at the third place narrow down.

Arsenal are now just three points behind the Blues while Spurs trail them by five points. There are four games remaining in the league season.

Asked about the top four race and Chelsea’s position in the table, Thomas Tuchel said: “Of course, I’m worried about the top four. I never feel safe. Four points in four games will never be enough, no matter what race we are in.”

Finishing outside the top four from this position will be a chokejob for the ages and that’s something no fan wants. Hopefully, the team can finds its form and end the season strongly.

Did Lukaku let Tuchel down or did Tuchel let Lukaku down?

Romelu Lukaku’s second stint at Chelsea has gone far worse than any of us would have imagined when he signed back in the summer. In 26 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, he has scored only seven goals without a single assist.

The striker has now been relegated to a bench role, playing the full 90 minutes only once in 2022. Most notably, he was not substituted on by Thomas Tuchel against Everton despite Chelsea needing a goal.

Lukaku said earlier in the season that he is not comfortable with Tuchel’s system and has often cut an isolated figure at the top of our attack, averaging fewer than 11 passes and 1.5 shots a game!

At this point, we have to ask – is it Tuchel’s tactics and system that have held Lukaku down or is the striker’s fault for his terrible season?
