Paul Pogba is set to leave Manchester United on a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract expires.
According to Foot Mercato, the competition for the Frenchman’s signature ‘is not that high’ despite Mino Raiola’s best efforts in the market.
It all comes down to the 29-year-old’s salary demands with Pogba looking to earn much more than he currently does at Old Trafford — around £290,000 per week.
With Real Madrid and Juventus now likely to be out of the race, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as favourites to sign the midfielder with sporting director Leonardo.
Erik ten Hag warned against taking Man United job because of Neville, Ferdinand and Scholes
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Netherlands legends Ruud Gullit said: “Is Manchester United the right choice for Erik ten Hag? That remains to be seen.
“It will be a really terrible job. There are all these former Man United players in the TV studios: Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes.
“There is constant pressure on the team, that is not easy. The former players are constantly talking, you have a lot of things on your plate and you have to be able to handle that.”
Neville pushed for Mauricio Pochettino to be appointed the next permanent manager at Old Trafford with Ralf Rangnick set to transition into a two-year consultancy role.
Ferdinand and Scholes have been critical of the German specialist despite mostly staying quiet while their former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge at the club.

Ten Hag described as ‘Jose Mourinho at his best’ by ex-Liverpool player
Speaking to Sky Sports about what can be expected from Erik ten Hag as Man United manager, ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld said: “He is a fit for Man United and he will be the perfect coach for Man United because he is a quality coach.
“He is a different coach, he’s not a coach that coaches, he’s a coach that changes teams, like Klopp and Guardiola, and even Mourinho at his best time. So he will definitely change Man United.
“The only thing is it’s a difficult team at the moment, it’s a difficult club to manage at the moment. So hopefully he gets the time and if he gets the time and they give him the time, then he will be I think at the moment the best option for Man United.
“But he still lacks a little bit of experience, he’s never coached in the top leagues. But hopefully he does well for Man United.”
Ten Hag has been heavily praised by some of the world’s best coaches, including Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, for his impressive work with Ajax over the last few years.
The Dutchman is expected to bring a number of his assistant coaches from Ajax to United as he aims to maintain the same team which helped him to a lot of success in the Netherlands.
